Gratena is a winery on the hills of Arezzo, Tuscany.
It was bought my grandfather in the year 1968, he loved Tuscany and he was attracted by a long road of Cypres, typical road of Tuscany.
The company has been completely organic since 1994, It differs from many other companies because from the beginning it decided to produce only autoctonous wines without imported vines.
Sangiovese and Gratena Nero, a vine recently rediscovered and certified by the Tuscany Region definitively in 2017 of which we are the sole owner and producer.
The company has decided to focus all its efforts on Sangiovese and Gratena Nero to identify and impose its own terroir and brand.
All the processing is natural, manual harvest, spontaneous fermentation without yeasts and sulphites, fertilization with manure. Just some sulphites before the bottlement. Nature helps us, not always, to keep our Terroir in balance.

Since this is a real agroturismo, they make wine which is actually very good. To get there you need to ride through gravel road for 3 km through wine yards and olive trees, what guarantees that you will feel like you are in a remote, very private place. The owner is very nice too.
