At the helm of Fattoria Le Pupille, with its 85 hectares of visually-striking vineyards distributed like so many tesserae of a precious mosaic in the Maremma’s finest winegrowing areas, is the estate’s aptly-named Family Dream Team. Elisabetta Geppetti, who remains as always the soul of the winery, now enjoys the assistance in marketing and sales pf her daughter Clara, while son Ettore oversees the vineyards and winemaking. Together, year after year, they fashion extraordinary expressions of this corner of earth. Pride of place goes to Saffredi, the Bordeaux blend created by Elisabetta in her early 20s, assisted by the great winemaker Giacomo Tachis, which launched ultra-premium winemaking in the Maremma and, vintage after vintage, strengthens its position as a leader on the world stage. Also showcasing the iconic house style are Sangiovese Poggio Valente; all-Syrah Le Pupille; RosaMati, the stylish, Syrah-based rosé; Poggio Argentato, a remarkably pleasurable white cuvée; and Piemme, a notably successful dry Manseng. Completing the collection is Morellino, in both current-vintage and Riserva versions, a proud ambassador of its terroir and entry portal for the superb winemaking journey that is Fattoria Le Pupille.

POGGIO ARGENTATO – IGT TOSCANA BIANCO
Poggio Argentato’s first vintage is the 1997. It is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Manseng, Traminer and Semillon and presents itself as a white wine with a french accent where the good structure, given by Maremma’s terroir, is balanced by the acidity, minerality, and the elegance of northern grape varieties.
ROSAMATI – IGT TOSCANA ROSATO
Rosa Mati, a strong minded and full of life woman, was the first in the family to believe in the potential of Maremma, at the time a land yet unexplored. Elisabetta wanted to dedicate her a rosé wine, as a search result of a wine characterized by a major structure and a more complex bouquet.
PELOFINO – IGT TOSCANA ROSSO
Pelofino is a young red wine, fruity and soft, in which Sangiovese meets other international grape varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
MORELLINO DI SCANSANO – MORELLINO DI SCANSANO DOCG
Morellino di Scansano, a blend composed mainly by Sangiovese, it is the label which better represents, as well in quantitative terms, Fattoria Le Pupille’s wine production. Since its first vintage – 1985, it had always been accompanying the winery as a full and constant expression of our territory.
MORELLINO DI SCANSANO RISERVA – MORELLINO DI SCANSANO RISERVA DOCG
This is the first wine being produced and commercialized within the newly created Morellino di Scansano production disciplinary, paving the way to a profound bond with the appellation. Up to the present moment, the blend is dominated by Sangiovese, with a little percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon.
POGGIO VALENTE – IGT TOSCANA ROSSO
Poggio Valente is a cru vineyard which belongs to Fattoria Le Pupille since 1996, when Elisabetta decided to acquire it in Pereta, near Scansano. The project has set a focus on Sangiovese and within a few years the wine became another significant milestone with its expression of Maremma’s terroir.
SAFFREDI – IGT TOSCANA ROSSO
Saffredi, with its typical bordeaux blending, is Fattoria Le Pupille’s flagship wine. This wine is the outcome of Elisabetta’s intuition and aspiration to make a great wine in Maremma, a wish realized with Giacomo Tachis’s precious help. Saffredi is a special dedication to Fredi, the one who inspired Elisabetta’s passion for wine.
LE PUPILLE – IGT TOSCANA SYRAH
Le Pupille is the fruit of Elisabetta’s great love for Syrah and of Clara’s dream and strong desire to produce a great wine by dedicating herself personally to every step of the process. Le Pupille expresses the dualism of grapes from two different vineyards, of two different winemaking practices, as well as of two different generations, with a mother and daughter who head the company side by side.
PIEMME – IGT TOSCANA BIANCO
After contributing to make Poggio Argentato’s blend very interesting, Elisabetta Geppetti wanted to experience a pure Petit Manseng wine, a variety grown on Maremma’s hills but which recalls the expression of its land of origin – Gascony.
SOLALTO – IGT TOSCANA BIANCO
Solalto is the result of on-vine withering of Traminer, Sauvignon and Semillon grapes in Scansano. The illustration on the label is a drawing made by Clara, Elisabetta’s eldest daughter, when she was a child and it represents our land and the sea, well embraced by Maremma’s unique sunlight, just like the grapes Solalto has been made of.

Der Besuch des Weinguts war die Reise auf jeden Fall mehr als wert. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und sowohl die Führung durch das Weingut als auch die Verkostung war sehr professionell und sehr angenehm.
Ludmilla hat sich sehr viel Zeit für meine Frau und mich genommen. Alle unsere Fragen zu den Weinen, zum Weingut und zur Familie wurden beantwortet und wir haben uns richtig wohl gefühlt. Ja, es kostet Geld aber die Zeit von Ludmilla, die Weine, das Feeling ist es allemal wert.
Wir haben gleich nach unserer Rückkehr die erste Flasche als Urlaubserinnerung geöffnet.

Der Besuch war eine ganz tolle Erfahrung. Die Führung im Weingut war sympathisch, freundlich und sehr informativ. Die gebuchte Degustation war schlichtweg der Hammer. Die Weine sind von bester Qualität und haben im Vergleich zu anderen Super Tuscans auch noch einen fairen Preis. Der Toskanische Imbiss war ebenfalls hervorragend – und reichlich.
